Earth capturing apparatus

Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve reliability by judging the presence or absence of the capture of the earth in response to the time width of the detected signal from an earth sensor which is mounted on a space navigating body. CONSTITUTION: An earth sensor which receives infrared rays and outputs the detected signal is mounted on a space navigating body. The capture of the infrared rays from the earth is judged within the range of the time width T of the detected signal indicating the capture of the infrared rays with the earth sensor. Thus the earth capturing operation is started. The time width T becomes the criterion for the capture of the earth. The time width of the detected signal indicating the capture of the infrared rays from the moon is made to be ▵TM, and the time width of the detected signal indicating the capture of the infrared rays from the earth is made to be ▵TE. Then, ▵TM<T<▵TE is set. Then, the earth searching with the earth sensor is performed. When the infrared rays are captured, whether the time width T wherein the infrared rays exist is within the range of ▵TM<T<▵TE or not is judged. COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
